Man arrested for burglary in Bryanston

BRYANSTON – Thanks to a swift response by police and security officers, a man has been arrested for suspected burglary.

A swift response by the Sandton Police Station’s Crime Combating Unit and security officers to a house burglary led to the arrest of a suspect.

According to Captain Granville Meyer, the spokesperson for the Sandton Police Station, police were alerted to the burglary in progress at a complex in Bryanston.

When the suspects noticed the security vehicle, they fled the scene. Police pulled over a motor vehicle with three suspects. A 33-year-old man was arrested while the other two suspects fled and are still at large. Several housebreaking implements were found in the boot of the vehicle that was used during the commission of the crime. The vehicle was also recovered.

Meyer said the suspect was in detention and will appear in court soon.

“Police continue to hunt for the remaining suspects and are urging the community to come forward with any information that can help in the investigation or the arrest of the suspects. Information can be given by calling Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or call the nearest police station,” said Meyer.
