Two incidents of theft on William Nicol Drive within a few days

SANDTON – Two people experienced armed robberies within a few hundred metres of each other on William Nicol Drive.

Two people were robbed from their vehicles on the same stretch of William Nicol Drive within a few days.

The first incident took place on 9 July just before Mattie Avenue while the second took place at a petrol station just a few hundred metres away on 13 July.

At about 6.45pm Trevor Brown was sitting in traffic approaching Mattie Avenue with a group of men insistently begging between the lanes. Brown said that one of the men then approached his window, opened his jacket and pointed a gun at Brown.

The suspect demanded all of his valuable items and left with his cellphone. The incident has been reported to the Sandton Police Station. Spokesperson Captain Granville Meyer said the matter is still under investigation and no arrests have been made.

In the second incident, CCTV footage circulating on social media showed a red Maserati pulling into a petrol station closely followed by a silver Toyota. As the Maserati pulls into a parking space the Toyota blocks the car in the parking space. Two suspects get out of the car with one opening the boot to take any valuable while the other approaches the victim.
