Sandton SPCA visits Tsutsumani to offer free animals vaccination and sterilisation of animals

ALEXANDRA – Community members came out in numbers to have their animals vaccinated and sterilised.

As part of this year’s 67 minutes Mandela Day Campaign, the Sandton SPCA visited Tsutsumani to offer free vaccination of cats and dogs in the area.

Kennel manager at Sandton SPCA Xolani Mncube said offering free animal vaccinations to the underprivileged communities, helps minimise a high number of unwanted dogs.

“The reason we came here today to sterilise animals was because we get a lot of animals at the centre whom, at a time, are unwanted. Sterilising them helps us to reduce the number of dogs that are unwanted in our kennels. We also educate the public regarding the importance of sterilisation and vaccination of animals,” he said.

Mncube said more than 100 dogs and cats were vaccinated and others sterilised on 8 July this year at the Tsutsumani First Park by the Sandton SPCA.

He urged community members of Alexandra to bring their animals to the SPCA for free vaccinations and sterilisations when the next opportunity is presented to them.
