Crawford College joins in on Slipper Day campaign

SANDTON – Crawford College supports the Reach for a Dream slipper day campaign.

Slipper Day is a Reach for a Dream Foundation campaign which runs every year across the country to encourage citizens to wear their slippers to work and school. Crawford College learners joined the initiative by wearing their slippers to school on 10 May.

Crawford College in Sandton has been successfully involved in the campaign for the past few years. They have raised R7 580, an impressive feat considering that there are about 680 learners at the school.

Coordinating teacher of this campaign at the school Robyn Hillowitz said, “Reach for a Dream has always been a charity close to the hearts of our students and teachers but this year we were even more inspired to assist this worthy organisation.”.

Hillowitz said that the money raised was to honour the memory of one of their own, Joshua Castle, who passed away last year. “He had his wish fulfilled at the end of 2017 in his Grade 9 year. He and his family were taken to Comic Con in Washington DC but, unfortunately, he lost his battle to cancer at the beginning of 2018,” she said.
