Randburg police find 16 bin bags of weed in Bryanston

BRYANSTON – Homeowner in Bryanston requested the police to accompany her back to her property which is rented out, where they found refuse bags filled with marijuana left behind by the tenants.

A large quantity of marijuana hidden in black plastic bags was discovered by the Randburg police at a Bryanston property on 10 May.

Randburg Police Station spokesperson Captain Makgowanyana Maja said, “Police members received a call at the station where a homeowner requested to be accompanied by the police to her house that was rented out.”

According to Maja, the owner wanted to go back into the house after the tenants had left. “When the officers accompanied her to the house, the homeowner showed them some tied refuse bags that were left inside the house.” When the police opened one of the 16 sealed refuse bags, they saw what they presumed to be marijuana. “On observation, the bags were ready to be delivered somewhere for the drug market. They seized the bags and the dagga would be destroyed as no one has been arrested yet.

“We would like to warn our residents that, when renting out their property, to please do more verification on their potential tenants in order not to find themselves in aiding wrong-doers.

Secondly, when advertising for the potential tenants or buyers, make sure that all your valuables are kept in a safe place and be in the company of other people to limit chances of being robbed.”
