Sandown high unveils five-star values

SANDTON – Sandown High School celebrated the launch of its star values and the official launch of its new computer lab.


Sandown High School unveiled new star values plaque and celebrated the official opening of the computer laboratory. The ceremony was held at the school hall on 17 April.

The five values unveiled were work ethic, respect, integrity, participation and self-discipline. Edward Makasane, principal of Sandown High School said he believes that the values will form part of the school’s culture.

“We are committed to these values because they help in shaping learner discipline and encourage a culture of teaching and learning,” he said.

“These values also help in modelling young leaders of today and tomorrow who would stand out and make this world a better place for us all.”

It is the duty of the Representative Council of Learners (RCL) to make sure that the new values are implemented well. “We are truly excited about the positive change that our school is undergoing. It has been a turbulent time over the past couple of years and we are glad about the stability that our principal Mr Makasane has bought,” said head girl Elizabeth Malin.

“We believe that the unveiling of the new computer lab and the refurbishment of the entire school has added worth to the school that has been absent for the past couple of years,” said deputy head boy Mphatso Manyamba.

Head boy Hlumani Mzele added, “All these values in unison not only work to provide a conducive learning environment but as well work to inspire and motivate the youth producing exemplary and model citizens for the coming future.”

Amanda Sibanyoni, deputy head girl highlighted that all learners were excited. “Sandown High has redirected itself to a path of success and true prosperity. We are happy to be part of this new era.”
