UPDATE: Video footage from shooting at Bryanston complex

BRYANSTON – The suspects allegedly burnt their vehicle after fleeing the scene.


Provincial police spokesperson Captain Mavela Masondo has confirmed that a man (59) was shot and killed 9 April at a complex near Anslow Lane in Bryanston.

According to Russel Meiring, communications officer at ER24, “ER24 paramedics, along with City of Johannesburg and Life Healthcare members, arrived at the scene at 12.46pm and found the man lying in the parking area of the complex.

Paramedics quickly assessed the man and found that he had sustained a gunshot wound to his head and showed no signs of life. Nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead.

“Police have launched a manhunt for two armed suspects after a 59-year-old man was shot at about 11.30am,” said Masondo.

It is alleged that the victim was entering the complex in which he resides and was then approached by two armed suspects who shot at him using rifles.

“The suspects fled the scene using a blue BMW. The getaway car was later discovered burnt about 5km away from the crime scene.”

He added that the motive for the murder is unknown at this stage but they are appealing to the public to come forward with any information regarding this incident. Either contact your nearest police station or call the CrimeStop number on 086 000 10111.

Social media is claiming that this may be an alleged hit but this is yet to be confirmed by police.
