Award Winning author, Jackie Phamotse is back with an educational read.

SANDTON CITY – Famous for stirring up controversy on social media, Jackie Phamotse, launched her second book, I Tweet What I Like: So Sue Me at Exclusive Books, Sandton City on 1 March.

Social activist, award-winning author, philanthropist and famous for stirring up controversy on social media, Jackie Phamotse, launched her second book, I Tweet What I Like: So Sue Me at Exclusive Books, Sandton City on 1 March.

Her debut novel, BARE: The blesser’s game, published in 2017 caused so much controversy in the country since it highlighted and exposed the lives of prominent people who used young women for drugs and sex, in exchange for luxury lifestyles. Even though the book was fiction, many people related to it because the blesser-blessee phenomenon is taboo.

Phamotse received backlash on social media for this and as a result, she started ‘educating’ and ‘adding’ on to her fictional book by tweeting a series of tweets. However, it didn’t end well for her because she ended up with a lawsuit.

“Those were really tough times for me and my family, I was not safe, I feared for my life,” said Phamotse.

“I wrote, I tweet what I like in a period of three months, as some sort of social media law handbook to share the truth about what really happened.”

She was inspired by Steve Biko’s book I write what I like. “The book [I tweet what I like] is different from my other offering. It is factual and accurate and more educational” said Phamotse. She started reading and writing at the tender age of 11 and has never looked back. “I have my dad to be thankful to for introducing me to the world of literature.”

“I am really proud of my daughter and I wish and pray that she succeeds in everything she does,” said Phamotse’s mother, Irene Ramonotsi.

One of her fans Oarabile Dichase said, “Jackie isn’t afraid to stand for her truth and that is totally admirable.”

Another fan Kiril Kutchoukov said, “I bought the book today and I am really excited to find what she has in store for us.”
