Man sentenced to seven years for robbery in Morningside

MORNINGSIDE – The 19 year-old-man robbed a victim on New Year's Eve and made off with items to the value of R40 000.


Members of the Sandton Police Station welcomed the sentencing of a 19-year-old man in the Alexandra Regional Court for robbery.

According to Captain Granville Meyer, the spokesperson for the Sandton Police Station, Mpilo Masuku was sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment.

Meyer said the accused and an accomplice accosted the victim in his house in Morningside Manor. The victim was robbed of his firearm, TV and vehicle on 31 December last year. The two men made off with items to the value of R40 000.

Masuku was arrested on 22 January.

Detective Sergeant Ronald Sigidi was commended for his tireless work to ensure the conviction.
