Puppies in the Park helps raise money for Woodrock Animal Rescue

MORNINGSIDE – Many community members showed their support for the Woodrock Animal Rescue.

Car and animal enthusiasts gathered at Ernest Ullmann Park to enjoy an afternoon in the sun and raise money for the Woodrock Animal Rescue.

Puppies in the Park was created four years ago by the VW Club South Africa as a way to give back to their furry friends. Dieter van den Heuvel, a committee member said,

“It proved to be a great success and after the first charity day it was clear that we had a moral obligation to help those without a voice, so it became a must-have event in our yearly calendar.”

On 27 January dozens of people came to enjoy the afternoon in the park and participated in raffle prizes in order to raise money for the animal rescue organisation. Many people also donated items on the day. The rescue centre is passionate about rescuing all types of animals from the surrounding communities and will do anything to rescue, sterilise, rehabilitate and rehome animals.

Karin Donald, the operations manager at Woodrock Animal Rescue, said she was overjoyed with the donations they had received on the day and had transported about two bakkie loads of donations on the day.

Ian Foat, the chairman of the club, said it was a wonderful day in the park and many people took the opportunity to get involved in the raffles to raise money for the animal shelter.
