Saints learner is at the top of his game

LYME PARK – St Stithians learner Brandon Kynoch has developed his third game, Sector, which is now available on the App Store.

A young St Stithians College learner who took the app world by storm with his two top-ranked games has now released his third game.

Brandon Kynoch’s game Torus was downloaded 100 000 times during its first 24 hours on the Apple App Store and was selected as a game of the day. This is the first time a South African game has achieved such wide coverage. Now his third game, Sector, has been featured as the Apple App Store’s Game of the Day in 86 countries.

Sector has one simple objective, score as high as you can and compete with players across the globe. “Sector is an endless arcade action game, with simple controls and challenging gameplay. Sector provides a casual gaming experience with beautiful graphics and audio,” explained Brandon.

Similar to his previous top-ranked game Torus, Sector is a minimalistic arcade game, while his other game Blast, is more content rich.

Brandon began developing at the age of 11 because of his love of technology, however, his drive to be successful has fuelled his dedication to learning everything he possibly can about programming. “I knew that being extremely advanced in programming at such a young age would one day open so many doors for me, and therefore I worked extremely hard at it.”

Following the huge success of his first two games, Brandon explained that he didn’t feel too pressurised to start developing a new game but rather took advantage of his free time during school holidays in August to create Sector.

Brandon added that he is also planning on releasing another major update for Torus early next year. “I have plenty great game concepts that I would love to develop and publish, however, I am quite limited for time at the moment. Nonetheless, I have high ambitions and am certain that I will be publishing many more great games in the not too distant future.”
