New guard house needed at Sandton Sports club

SANDTON – An old guardhouse was recently damaged by severe winds and the Sandton Sports Club is asking for donations.

 

The guardhouse at the Sandton Sports Club was recently damaged by intense winds and the club is asking for a donation of a Wendy house for the guards.

According to Gia Sinclair of the club, the hectic winds caused a lot of damage to the guardhouse. She said it must be about 20 years old and was due to be replaced.

“We are looking for a replacement house that the guards can use in the interim,” she added.

Sinclair said the structure must be in a usable condition and be able to be wired for electricity. “The house is their mini control room which they use.”

She said there were plans to upgrade the entrance to the club which would include a new guardhouse and upgraded security features.

Geoff Shapiro of 24/7 Security said he was willing to contribute towards a new guardhouse until a permanent structure was built at the club.
