Sandton Police Crime Combatting Team successes

SANDTON – Here are two of the successes the Sandton police had this past week.

The Sandton Police Crime Combatting Team recently arrested a suspect for possession of an unlicensed firearm.

According to Brigadier Egen Moodley, station commander at the Sandton Police Station on 29 September members was patrolling on Rivonia Road when they spotted two males who looked suspicious.

He said they approached them and searched them. “A 37-year-old suspect was found to be in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. A 9mm Glock pistol with 13 live rounds of 9mm ammunition, one magazine and a holster was seized,” said Moodley.

He continued that the suspect was arrested and detained and appeared in court on 1 October.

In another success, Moodley said a suspect was sentenced to nine years direct imprisonment for a house robbery case which occurred in Morningside in February this year.

The suspect Nndwakhulu Castro Ramalivhana pleaded guilty and was sentenced in the Alexandra Regional Court. “He had no option but to plead guilty since Detective Constable Sigidi built an airtight case which would have resulted in a guilty finding had the suspect pleaded not guilty,” said Moodley.

“Well done to Detective Constable Sigidi.”
