Bryanston resident warns community after car jamming incident

SANDTON – Andrew Witten said that from the CCTV footage retrieved from the centre it is evident that his wife was followed.

A Bryanston resident has warned the community to be vigilant after his wife’s car was remote jammed.

The incident happened on 18 September just before 8am. According to Andrew Witten, his wife quickly stopped at a petrol station on Hobart Road to get coffee. He said that from the CCTV footage retrieved from the centre it is evident that she was followed. “There was a man on his cell phone that was watching her and even looked into the car.

“A car can also be seen following her.”

Witten shared a video of the incident and in the video, a silver Kia Sportage can be seen turning around and seem to exit the centre, however as the woman exits her car, the Kia with two suspects inside reverse into the parking bay next to the victims’ car.

The suspects wait in the car as a centre security guard walks past their vehicle after which they calmly open the doors to the victims’ car and stole various items from the seats.

Witten said that they stole her handbag, purse with all her cards and sunglasses. “She immediately went to cancel all her cards and has reported it to the police.

“She is a bit shaken up after the incident.”

Witten commented that their security provider has been amazing after the incident in providing assistance.
