Bryanston Country Club creates trust to continue its charitable efforts

BRYANSTON – The trust aims to benefit the caddies and employees of the club.

The Bryanston Country Club Charity Trust has officially been formed to recognise the hard work that the club has done to raise money for various charities over the years.

Since 2001 the club has donated over R3 million to 31 different charities, however, this was in a more informal way and the club decided to officially register a trust.

Over the years club members have requested that the club focuses its charitable efforts closer to home. The trust will focus on benefiting the caddies and employees of the club, as well as their spouses and children as well as any sportsperson who is previously disadvantaged.

The trust will focus on a variety of areas including educational initiatives by providing basic education and training and bursaries, primary health care education and community initiatives, including the establishment of golf clubs and academies.

The first donation to the trust, a significant R10 000, was made by a long-time member of the club. When Fanie Cilliers, a member of 20 years, passed away earlier this year his wife Melanie requested that friends and colleagues contribute to the trust.

“We start our main charity drive this month with a series of events and end our fundraising efforts in September with a Sunset Concert that will be hosted on 2 September,” said Tilani Edwards, the marketing manager for the club.

On 20 July a charity golf day will be held to contribute to the trust. For more information contact Tilani Edwards at marketing@bryanstoncc.co.za
