#Eblockwatch: Supply the dots and catch your criminal through a network just a click away

SANDTON – Find out how you can get connected in the Eblockwatch network.

In last week’s edition of the Sandton Chronicle, a new security portal was launched so that the community can assess how safe they are.

Eblockwatch founder, Andre Snyman spoke about how the organisation is implementing technology to catch criminals.

Snyman explains that creating a haystack through reported crimes in order to find the needle, requires an extensive network and networking. The Eblockwatch portal utilises a massive network with various role players and support groups that is able to assist and disseminate information. “It is very important to get the network part right,” he said.

Snyman said the important network parts are the WhatsApp administrators. “If you belong to a suburb or street group, the administrator should contact Eblockwatch.

“We will then find out who they are and plot them on our website and utilise them if need be for dissemination in certain areas of crime.”

According to Snyman, the controlled flow of correct and accurate information is vital to the success of the Eblockwatch network, therefore, they have the information filtered by experienced humans and not automated technology.

The flow of information through their system stops the spam and information overload problems experienced on many social media platforms.

He said they will then feed them information and they can send the information on to their network.

The network is created by putting people together. This is done when someone registers on the portal and they are able to select their first point of contact in the form of family or friends.

“So if there is an incident, we know exactly who to contact and can continue to send the information through our network.”

According to Snyman, Eblockwatch is not a security company, their focus lies more on community mobilisation.

In the event of a robbery, the alert that goes out will be sent to the community to be used as information and not as a reaction alert.

“With this type of information we can then connect the dots and utilise it to catch the criminals,” ended Snyman.

To join Eblockwatch send a WhatsApp to Andre Snyman on 082 561 1065.
