Springboks rugby team prepare at St Stithians ahead of England clash

LYME PARK – The Springboks rugby team members visited St Stithians College for a training session ahead of their match against England on 9 June.

The Springboks visited St Stithians College for a training session ahead of their match against England on 9 June.

Community members were invited to meet their heroes, and hundreds of supporters turned out to have their Springbok shirts, rugby balls, and shoes signed.
Many fans were excited to meet the new Springbok captain, Siya Kolisi, and school rugby practice finished early so that parents and children did not miss this opportunity.

“We published the event on our social media and invited people to come along and meet the boks, and so many members of the Saints family came to meet them,” said the school’s head of advancement, Alistair Stewart.

The Springboks have been training at the school for the past week ahead of their clash against England on 9 June.

When asked why the Springboks chose St Stithians as their practise ground, Stewart said, “This is not the first time that the boks have trained here. Saints has always been an excellent ground for sports teams to train on, I will never forget when we had a few teams train on our grounds for the 2010 Fifa World Cup.

“We are very proud of our facilities and that we can provide a safe environment for the team to train on, and it was great to have them here.”

The Springboks will face England at the Emirates Airline Park on 9 June at 5.15pm.
