Sesego Foundation golf day fundraiser a huge success

WOODMEAD –The annual golf day has helped raise more than R33 million over the past 13 years.

 

The Sesego Foundation, which is dedicated to eradicating poverty, hosted its annual golf day at the Country Club Johannesburg in Woodmead.

In the past 13 years, the golf day has raised more than R33 million in cash and kind, which is distributed to projects all around the country. The foundation aims to make a sustainable contribution to the wellbeing of southern African communities and focuses on projects which are sustainable. The organisation is made up of people who volunteer their time, resources and skills to make a difference.

Annemarie Mostert, the chairperson of the foundation said, “Sesego started 13 years ago and a group of volunteers came together and still to this day we have volunteers passionate about this country and passionate about making a difference and seeing a difference in communities.”

Money was raised through the sponsorships of four-balls in addition to a raffle and auction at the gala dinner.

Fidelity CEO Wahl Bartmann and Steven Fraser, the director of brand and marketing for Ford Credit, both handed over cheques for R150 000 to the organisation. “We are privileged to be involved with the organisation and take it to the next level,” said Bartmann.

Fraser also handed over a brand new Ford Figo to the foundation which will be used as a mode of transport for the 15 new businesses that Sesego is helping to incubate.

Rams Mabote, a director at Sesego Foundation said, ” We thank each and every one of you for everything you have done for us. We have travelled a long journey with some of you and we hope that those of you who we have seen for the first time this year that we’ll see you again next year.”
