One intruder has been killed and another injured following an armed robbery in Parkmore in the early hours of 27 February.
Gauteng police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini, told the Sandton Chronicle that it is alleged that the owner of the house confronted the suspects who were already in the house and fired shots at them. It is suspected that they used a step ladder to get over the wall and into the premises
The incident took place at approximately 2am at a property in 12th Street.
“One of the suspects who allegedly had a knife was fatally wounded in the upper body. The other one was wounded. A third suspect who was allegedly armed with a handgun managed to escape,” said Dlamini.
Nick Dollman, the media liaison officer for Netcare 911 said, “Paramedics from Netcare 911 and the Provincial Ambulance Service attended to the patients.
“One suspect sustained severe injuries and died at the scene while the second suspect had been shot in the upper body and leg. He was in a very serious condition and was attended to by advanced life support paramedics, and once stabilised he was transported to a hospital for the urgent care that he required.”
Dlamini added that the one suspect who had been wounded is currently under police guard at Thembisa Hospital.
Nothing was taken from the premises and police are investigating a case of attempted robbery and attempted murder. Dlamini stated there will be no charge laid against the homeowner.
“Both suspects have not yet been identified but are suspected to have been involved in criminal acts in the area. Further investigations are continuing to establish if the suspects may be linked to other crimes in the area,” concluded Dlamini.
