Mad Domestic Watch celebrates year of learning
HURLINGHAM – Members of the Mad Domestic Watch celebrated a year of much success at their year-end function at Rosebank Union Church on 23 November.
Making a difference (Mad) Domestic Watch handed out certificates of attendance and celebrated a year of learning essential crime prevention tips at their year-end function at Rosebank Union Church on 23 November.
Founder of Mad Domestic Watch, Penny Steyn said, “More than 350 domestic workers and gardeners who had attended the courses this year attended the event, which sought to recognise their efforts over the past year.”
About 30 members of the police, Community Policing Forum and community members also attended the event.
“The purpose of the event was to celebrate the attendance of these people at my crime prevention lessons and celebrate the actions they are taking to implement what they learn. This is an opportunity for them to get rewarded and recognised for being special people in society.”
She added that the event not only involved the handing over of certificates to members but also featured speeches from various community members, lucky draw prizes, entertainment from Domestic Watch members and much song and dance.
“The abundance of extraordinary members of the community, forum members and police all contributed to a phenomenal day. At the end of the event, the police stood up in numbers to salute all and sing the national anthem.
“I extend huge gratitude to all employers who allow me to empower, motivate and educate their staff.”
