Rush brings e-sporting action to Sandton

SANDTON – Do you desire to learn more about e-sport, meet and talk to professional players, watch top South African teams compete, enter competitions and win fantastic prizes? Then Rush is where you want to be from 21 to 23 July.

The inaugural Rush event invites anyone who wants to learn more about e-sport, to meet and talk to pro players, watch South Africa’s top teams compete and enter competitions themselves, to visit the Sandton Convention Centre from 21 to 23 July.

Designed by the creators of rAge (really Awesome gaming expo), the Rush event is a first for e-sport in South Africa and is set to become the inaugural showcase of all things e-sport.

The event will feature a variety of competitive tournaments with live shout casting (commentary) by some of the country’s top shout casters. The country’s best competitive gamers and clans will compete for the honour of taking home the glory and a host of incredible prizes.

Four main stages will showcase popular titles such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO), Fifa 17, League of Legends and Street Fighter V. Fans will be able to watch all competitions live on the big screens and visitors will be able to enter tournaments across a range of games including Hearthstone, Fifa 17, Street Fighter V and Metal Slug.

“Rush is an exciting, compelling showcase of everything that South African e-sport currently has to offer. We’ve created a unique experience that will appeal to both casual and hardcore gamers, and one that will serve as a visual introduction to anyone who doesn’t know what all this e-sport fuss is about,” said Lauren Das Neves, marketing manager for Rush, Nag and rAge.

“Having been actively involved in the local gaming industry for the past 20 years through Nag and rAge, Rush is a great platform for us to build, empower and connect with new and existing e-sport communities.”

Kaiser Chiefs has also announced its participation at Rush, giving gamers the chance to battle it out at the Kaiser Chiefs e-sport stage. To enter the Kaiser Chiefs tournament, visit www.acgl.co.za/kaizerchiefs. Entry is free.

Warcraft and Hearthstone fans can look forward to Kwesé hosting a Hearthstone Fireside Gathering at Rush. Other activities include PlayStation VR, arcade cabinets and retail stands.
