Norwood police and Fidelity ADT have issued a warning that gangsters emulating the Rolex Gang are once again active.
The notorious gang terrorised the northern suburbs over a two-year period. In April last year, three members of the infamous Rolex Gang were found guilty on nine charges of robbery with aggravating circumstances, one of murder and three of attempted murder.

Sam Cretten, community development manager for Fidelity ADT said there have been a number of similar incidents around Melrose and Sandton.
“Spotters at restaurants, in shopping malls and parking areas, are a real problem, resulting in follow homes and robberies,” said Cretten, adding that it could escalate even into a hijacking or house robbery.
Some tips to keep you safe:
- Keep expensive watches covered and avoid wearing flashy jewellery when out and about
- Always be aware and vigilant of your surroundings
- When leaving a restaurant or shopping centre be on the lookout for anyone who could possibly be following you
- If you believe you are being followed drive to the closest police station or security provider guard house.
