BREAKING NEWS: Bryanston resident found dead in his home by his neighbour

BRYANSTON - A suspected home-invasion has left an elderly man dead in home.

The body of an elderly man has been discovered in his home, along with his deceased cat, in what is suspected to be a home-invasion.

Sandton Chronicle was at the scene where they found ADT, who had assisted in checking the property after a neighbour noticed the garage door into the home was open.

Janet Venables, the neighbour across the street, often checked on the deceased as he does not have much family. He has also been robbed before so Venables often checks up on him. She noticed that his garage was open and attempted to contact the Sandton Police. She was told that someone would be sent but nobody arrived to assist her in checking the home some three hours later.

The deceased is believed to be in his late 70s to early 80s and does not have much family.

Venables then called Andre Snyman, founder of eblockwatch. Together with ADT, Snyman entered the home and discovered the elderly man in his late 70s to early 80s with massive head trauma. Sandton Chronicle has been told that the deceased most likely died four days ago.

The man was tied up and lying on the floor of his home when Snyman and ADT discovered his body. By the time Sandton Chronicle left the scene, police had finally arrived.

ADT officer, Thomas Hlungwani, walks out of the home after finding the body of the elderly man in Bryanston.
