Dainfern College welcomes Cambridge A-Level programme

DAINFERN – Dainfern College announces new A level programme to provide schoolchildren with more options.

Dainfern College will launch A Year 13 Cambridge International A-Level programme starting next year.

Deputy principal of the college, Karen Cosh explained, “A structured Year 13 is a useful option for school-leavers who are not sure what they want to do after school and gives them a meaningful gap year experience. We are inviting Grade 12s across Johannesburg to apply.”

The A level classes will be held at Dainfern College as a post-matric year, with specialist teachers and a director of A levels to manage the programme. The following subjects will be introduced next year: English language or English literature, pure mathematics, chemistry or physics, history or global perspectives and research.

The programme will then be tailored to suit the needs of the schoolchildren as it is rolled out. This A-level programme will be perfect for those who wish to specialise in these areas and thus gain an advantage in a competitive market.

Cosh concluded, “At Dainfern College, our traditional Grade 12 exit exams will continue to be the IEB’s National senior certificate, however, the South African IEB matric is well recognised overseas and Cambridge offers an international qualification accepted worldwide. So students studying abroad can also use their A levels.”

Applications for next year’s programme close on 29 May.
