Livewell Village officially opens in Bryanston for dementia patients

FOURWAYS – The Livewell Group introduces their new village – a safe haven for people living with dementia.

The Livewell Group is a pioneer in dementia care and is extending its services in the community with the establishment of a new Livewell Village, situated on 113 Mount Street, Bryanston.

The village will provide a beautiful, calm space for those suffering from dementia. “We strive for compassion with a touch of class at Livewell,” said Quinton Sharpe, the village manager.

The official launch of the village saw those in attendance enlightened and informed about the effects of dementia on an individual and on his or her family members.

Keynote speakers at the launch included Ward 106 councillor Chris Santana and renowned psychiatrist, Dr Ryan Fuller who both congratulated the Livewell Group on their new village.

“Dementia is a chronic disorder of the mental processes and it can and will change the patient’s life and the lives of the patient’s loved ones,” explained Fuller.

The Livewell team steps in and tries to make life better and easier for those individuals and families who struggle with the reality of the illness.

According to Sharpe, dementia will send a family on an emotional roller coaster and families need something to fall back on.

Anna-Marie van Heerden, the village’s quality of life leader; Quinton Sharpe, village manager; and Santerien Henry, the village’s activity co-ordinator.

“We look forward to welcoming new residents and their family members to the Livewell family,” said Ivan Oosthuizen, CEO of the Livewell Group.

The group will host a monthly support group session at the Bryanston-based village at no cost to the public. The support group is held every second Wednesday of every month.

“The activities and programmes offered at the village actively engage with the individual and address the individual’s unique requirements in a warm and luxurious environment,” concluded Sharpe.
