Sunninghill resident’s woman-empowerment journey
SANDTON – Kim Wandsella named Mrs South Africa semi-finalist.
Sunninghill resident, Kim Wandsella (30) was named a Mrs South Africa semi-finalist on 2 March.
“I kept my family in the dark about being an entrant in the pageant and when I heard the news, I was overwhelmed with excitement and joy,” said Wandsella.
Originally from George in the Western Cape, and a proud mom of three children, Wandsella works as a human capital partner at Zoetis based in Sandton.
“I graduated from the University of Johannesburg (UJ) in 2009 with a degree in corporate communications but decided to pursue a career in human resources management instead. I completed a diploma and training at the Independent Institute of Education’s Varsity College Campus in 2011 and a post graduate diploma in labour law at UJ in 2016,” she explained.
Wandsella now aspires to specialise in labour law consulting and has begun studying towards a Bachelor of Laws with the University of South Africa this year.
Sandton Chronicle asked why Wandsella entered the Mrs South Africa pageant, to which she replied, “My life motto is that life is not about finding yourself, but about creating yourself.

“I believe we are constantly able to reinvent ourselves and to release our latest, most relevant, upgraded versions, with better features and specifications to the world. People look forward to what the new iPhone or Toyota Fortuner will look and feel like and whether it will be better than the last version. Why should that not be the case with people?”
Wandsella will go on to compete for a place in the Top 25 at the semi-final week which will take place from 26 to 28 April, where the top 25 will be announced at the Cansa gala dinner event, which is expected to be attended by some 1 500 guests.
Wandsella concluded, “I continuously strive to surpass my highest achievements and that can only be done through constant development. To me, Mrs South Africa is so much more than just a pageant. It is a women empowerment and development programme that has a ripple effect as I will not only empower myself but will be equipped to empower other women.”
