T20 cricket festival a success

HYDE PARK – Hyde Park High cricket team took part in the annual St Peter's T20 festival.

Hyde Park High School participated in the annual St Peter’s T20 Cricket Festival alongside 11 schools.

This is the first time that Hyde Park High School attended this event and knew that they were up against some of the best schools in the region. The team was excited to be part of this tournament and were determined to show off their cricket skills.

The team is coached by Martin Coetzee who is a member of the Gauteng Lions cricket squad, and it is evident that his input has motivated them to new heights.

Team captain, Andrew Ingman was the hero of Hyde Park High’s team with a tally of 230 runs at a strike rate of 230. This outstanding achievement was recognised by the event organisers and he received the trophy for Best Batsman of the festival.

Hyde Park was knocked out in the quarter-finals by St Peter’s, the overall winners of the tournament.

Ingman said, “Our team thoroughly enjoyed participating in the festival and will take a lot away from this experience and look forward to being invited back again next year.”
