Taking fundraising to another level

JOHANNESBURG – The International Fundraising Congress (IFC) is coming to South Africa for the first time.

The International Fundraising Congress (IFC) is coming to South Africa for the first time, courtesy of the Resource Alliance, an organisation that curates content and events within the non-profit sector with the aim of supporting social change.

The IFC is set to take place over three, one-day pop-up events in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town in February and March.

The congress is widely known as a hub for learning, conversations and debates that aim to transform fundraising practices.

“There’s a real hunger among local fundraisers to learn and sharpen their fundraising skills, so we’re thrilled to have the support of Nedbank Private Wealth, University of Stellenbosch, Gibs and the UKZN Foundation to bring a selection of some of the best IFC workshops to South Africa at a more affordable cost,” said Sarah Scarth, the Southern Africa representative for Resource Alliance.

Noxolo Hlongwane, head of philanthropy at Nedbank Private Wealth, believes that partnering with Resource Alliance can support the goal to strengthen the philanthropy sector. “We’re passionate about our work with non-profit organisations that are intrinsic to the sustainability of our country,” said Hlongwane

Each pop-up event will provide a wide selection of workshops via video sessions, followed by live Skype link Q&As with the speakers. The discussion topics include innovation and technology, writing winning proposals, storytelling, impact reporting and building effective corporate partnerships.

The one-day pop-ups take place in Johannesburg on 16 February at Gibs in Illovo, in Cape Town on 9 March at Stellenbosch Business School and in Durban on 22 March at the University of KwaZulu-Natal Business School. The cost to attend an IFC pop-up is R750 per delegate and registration can be done online.

“If you’re looking for new learnings and inspiration to kick-start your 2017 fundraising year, then the IFC pop-up is a must-attend event,” said Scarth.
