Every time a new store is opened, refurbished or relocated, it is celebrated with the Cashbuild Art-at-Heart competition whereby building material vouchers worth R15 000 are awarded to between eight and 10 local primary schools which entered the competition.

To participate in the competition, pupils from each school must submit their best artwork to the company. The artwork is then displayed at functions held by the company and they remain on display in their stores for the next six years.

The artwork is judged and three winners from each school are named. The winners receive gold, silver and bronze certificates for first, second and third place respectively.

The Manager’s Choice award is also presented to the overall winner and this award is announced on the day and the winner receives a stationery pack and a trophy.
