WARNING: Explosive devices on the streets of Parkmore

PARKMORE - Homemade explosives have been discovered on 8th street in Parkmore. A video of a pedestrian stepping on one of explosives has surfaced.

A local resident was left with a flat tyre after he drove over an explosive device in 8th street, Parkmore, just a few houses down from a nursery school.

Richard Tyack was driving along 8th Street when he heard a bang. He pulled over to find his tyre was flat. On further investigation he found a strange explosive device which caused the damage to his tyre. “The bomb squad came to investigate and it seems they are taking it very seriously. They took the device found away for further investigation.”

According to Alex Mthunzi, a security guard at The Park nursery school, this has not been the first incident and he has seen about 5 other devices.

In a separate incident a man was injured when he stepped on one of these devices while walking down the street. A resident, Steve Hanauer, managed to catch this event on 4 August this year his CCTV cameras. “It always happens during the school holidays and there has been a spate of these incidents and its all confined to one street.”

The explosives contain bearings, marbles and also rocks according to Steve.

Speculations at this time are that it is a school kid making these explosives as it is confined to the one street.
