Colours fill the sky

EMMARENTIA – Runners participate in the 'happiest run on the planet'.

Bursts of colour filled the sky as thousands gathered for the ‘funnest run under the sun’.

The Color Run finally touched down in Joburg after it travelled through different cities in the country on 25 September. Participants either attended the colourful event with their family or made it a memorable time with their closest friends.

The run started at Roosevelt Park High School – affectionately known as the ‘happiest 5km on the planet’ – and was never short of its fun elements. Participants came from all over the city to be part of the one-of-a-kind 5km experience.

There were five stations: red, yellow, blue, green and orange. Each station had marshalls on either end dousing runners with one of the five colours.

Londiwe Mkize who attended the event with her friend commended the run as one of the most colourful runs she has ever taken part in. The streets of Emmarentia were lined with people covered in a variety of colours.

Marketing specialist at Capitec, Megan Wagner said the organisation was very happy to sponsor the event. She added that she thought Emmarentia was the perfect place to host the run as it has come to be one of the best-loved locations for residents to have a great time. “Capitec prides itself in wanting to aid the community and so we will give some of the proceeds to Adopt-a-School Foundation,” she said.

After their run, participants gathered on the Roosevelt Park High School’s field where they enjoyed food from various stalls and were entertained by local talented musicians.
