Pupils attend career day seminar

SANDTON – Pupils attended a Career Day Seminar at Sandton High School hosted by the Vedanta Institute on 22 July.

About 300 pupils in grades 10, 11 and 12 attended the event. The pupils came from Sandton High School, Alex High School, and Falcon Educational College.

The seminar provided an unprecedented opportunity for the pupils, a predominant number of which come from underprivileged backgrounds.

The event brought together leaders in their fields, providing the pupils with lessons in life experience and insights into their fields of study. The seminar also included a talk on how to analyse one’s personality, determine an appropriate field that is in line with one’s nature, the correct approach to one’s chosen field of work and self-management techniques to help cope with the stresses of life.

The speakers at the event included Ajen Sita, CEO of EY Africa; Sundeep Ruder, well-renowned medical doctor and associate lecturer; Guy Liebermann, social entrepreneur and Giant Flag Project co-ordinator; Quintin Tovey, ex-professional soccer player and now coach and sports therapist; and Previn Naicker, research scientist at CSIR.

The Vedanta Institute is a non-profit organisation which is dedicated to educating South Africans in the philosophy of Vedanta which encourages its followers to gain divine knowledge and provides the basis for Hinduism.
