Marlboro residents give back

SANDTON – The Muslim community in Marlboro Gardens and Kelvin has donated blankets to needy local residents.

The small Muslim communities within Marlboro Gardens and Kelvin recently gave back to their local community when they handed over much-needed blankets to residents living in the Setwetlwa Informal Settlement and Ithlokomeleng Hospice Centre.

Leader of one Muslim community, Liaquad Ebrahim said they have hosted the blanket drive annually for about 30 years. He added that it was important to give back to needy local residents who have very little, especially in winter.

Blankets were also given to other organisations in Alexandra including The Lucky Duck Child Care Centre on 12th Avenue in Alexandra.

Ebrahim said, “We as a community will share, assist and help and continue to extend a helping hand to try and alleviate poverty among our neighbours.”
