Five injured in truck collision
SUNNINGHILL – Five people have been injured after a truck collided with seven other vehicles on the N1 South near the Rivonia offramp in Sunninghill.
Emer-G-Med have reported that an alleged brake failure was the cause of the accident. Reports indicate that the truck rolled, hitting a number of vehicles and leaving debris scattered across the highway. This has resulted in only one lane being open to the public during peak-hour traffic.
Emer-G-Med and other medical services were on scene to treat patients from three separate vehicles that were involved in the crash. They suffered from minor to moderate injuries and it is reported that one patient required Advanced Life Support Care.
There are still heavy traffic delays and motorists are urged to take alternative routes.
JMPD are on scene and are investigating the cause of the accident.
