Sunflower Fund brings Bollywood
SANDTON - The Sunflower Fund's annual banquet will be held on 1 July at the Hilton Hotel in Sandton and you're invited.
The Sunflower Fund, a non-profit organisation which educates and assists those joining the South African Bone Marrow Registry (SABMR), will host its annual fundraising banquet on 1 July at the Hilton Hotel in Sandton.
Shelby Zimmerman, regional manager of The Sunflower Fund, said that this is one fundraiser not to miss out on. “We have gone with a Bollywood theme and have pulled out all the stops. We have Nicholas Goliath of Goliath and Goliath as our emcee and tons more fantastic surprises,” said Zimmerman.
Funds raised will be put towards the initial test cost for donors to register on the registry and will enable the organisation to create awareness in the community, as well as to recruit stem cell donors to increase the number of people on the registry.
Tissue typing is a very costly procedure with the DNA Molecular Test costing The Sunflower Fund in the region of R2 000 per donor. There are currently more than 71 000 donors on the SABMR.
