Community gears up for Spruit Day 2016

SANDTON – Residents' associations team up to make Spruit Day 2016 the biggest yet.

Spruit Day 2016 is set to be the biggest and best event yet, with local residents’ associations already teaming up to plan and organise the event.

The first meeting, in preparation of the event, was held on 1 June at the Old Parktonian Sports Club, and stakeholders representing the various sections of the Braamfontein Spruit attended.

Matt Karpinski, owner of Uber Exposure Brand Marketing, said that his company will play a pivotal role in planning this year’s event.

“Spruit Day is intended to have as many residents and stakeholders along the Braamfontein Spruit participate through their various community organisations in a clean-up on a common day.”

Karpinski added that the objective of the initiative was to create a greater impetus and higher profile for this green area in the city.

Community organisations, residents’ associations, special interest groups and City Parks and Zoo, the custodian of the Braamfontein Spruit, will all be involved on the day.

“We want communities to really get involved and help market and activate this day so we can turn it into a monthly event. Our spruit can become everybody’s back garden,” said Karpinski.

Spruit Day 2016 will take place on 17 September.
