SANDTON - Read about the crowning of Mr and Miss Varsity College

The VSP Lounge in Sandton was the setting for the crowning of the 2016 Mr and Miss Varsity College Sandton.

Abdullah Dudhia, a first year IIE Bachelor of Commerce (Law) pupil, and Gaida Serena Manfredo, a first year Higher Certificate in Business Principle and Practice pupil, were awarded the titles respectively. The event also acted as a significant fundraiser for Nal’ibali, the national corporate social investment partner of Varsity College for this year.

PR and events co-ordinator for the college, Oratile Matlapeng said, “Nal’ibali is a national reading-for-enjoyment campaign sparking children’s potential through storytelling and reading. Initiated in 2012 by the DG Murray Trust and the Project for the Study of Alternative Education in South Africa, the campaign seeks to motivate and support caregivers and communities to make stories and reading part of everyday life.”

With the theme for the evening being, James Bond, all in attendance came in sleek attire for the event while being entertained by music heavyweights N2k, Twins on Deck and rapper Nasty-C.

Student relations manager of the college, Vasanthee Govender expressed her gratitude for the organisation of the event. “Thank you to everyone who made this event such a success… The money raised will go a long way towards enriching literacy in underprivileged communities.”
