Domestic Watch meetings for May focuses on health

SANDTON - The Domestic Watch meetings look at health in their meetings in May.

The Sandton Domestic Watch meetings for May will discuss the topic of tuberculosis (TB).

Founder and lesson co-ordinator of Domestic Watch, Penny Steyn, that although crime trends are covered in the monthly meetings, at least once a year she dedicates a lesson to health.

Steyn said, “So, after much research and invaluable input from ER24, tuberculosis will be covered for the first time. South Africa ranks among the 22 high-burden countries which collectively contribute to about 80 percent of the total global burden of all TB cases.

Steyn added, “Winter is ‘cough’ time, sit in a taxi and an unaware person with a cough can give it or contract it in that confined space. They take this to their work and homes. It spreads and it kills if we are not aware.”
