Domestic Watch meetings in April

SANDTON - Domestic Watch looks at the workings of a crime investigation

Domestic Watch will be hosting a series of meetings in April, focusing on the topic of crime investigation.

Led by founder of Domestic Watch, Penny Steyn, the lessons will look at the inner-workings of police investigations into a variety of crimes. Steyn said that a murky understanding of police investigations can lead employers to think that their staff or service providers are involved in the crime, which inevitably leads to suspicions which could hurt the relationship between employers and employees.

She said that the lesson will include a breakdown of the ins and outs of an investigation and added, “Statistics have proved that 70 percent of house robberies are a result of inside information leaking out. Attendees will be much more aware and careful, and we will discuss what we should be doing to dispel doubt or establish who the perpetrator was, or would-be perpetrators in the future.”

The lessons will take place in the following venues:

  •  Morningside: At the police station lapa on 20 April at 1.30pm
  •  Bryanston: At St Michael’s Church on 21 April at 11.30am
  •  Bryanston: At Christian Science Church on 22 April at 12pm
  •  Rivonia: At Christian Science Church on 22 April at 12pm
  •  Gallo Manor and Wendywood: At Christ Church Sandton on 20 April at 11.30am
  •  Hurlingham: At the Rosebank Union Church on 26 April at 10am
  •  Gallo Manor and Morningside: At the Gallo Manor Community Centre on 28 April at 10am.
