St Peter’s College appoints new headmaster

SUNNINGHILL - St Peter’s College announces the appointment of Rui Morais as the new headmaster of their school.

St Peter’s College Council, which promotes the school’s mission and strategic plans, appoints the headmaster, establishes broad policies and controls the capital resources of the school, is delighted to announce the appointment of Rui Morais as the new headmaster of the college.

“I am very delighted to be appointed for this position, I have been in the school for 40 years and it is a pleasure to now be the school’s headmaster,” Morais said.

The appointment follows an exhaustive selection process, facilitated by specialist executive search agents, involving the research of 339 candidates from 128 schools. From this research, they identified 52 potential candidates, following a screening, which was reduced to a shortlist of six candidates whose CVs, interview results and video presentations were presented to the council.

Theresa Monoyoudis, marketing manager of the school, stated that Morais was deputy headmaster. “Morais has always been very involved with the pupils as they always come to him for help and he also installs discipline when needed.”

Monoyoudis explained that Morais has acted as headmaster over the past term and performed outstandingly in his role. She further added that he has proven his leadership capabilities in challenging circumstances, has committed to the unique ethos and success of their school and also enjoys the respect of the staff and pupils alike.

“It is important to have a strong team around you such as the staff, parents and pupils. The new initiatives for the school is to try and encourage the Grade 8 pupils to come to school with laptops and diverse into being a more Google-friendly school,” the new headmaster expressed.

Morais explained that what was most important was focusing on developing results to equip pupils, as the academic results of the school has improved to 100 percent and 97 percent of their pupils were able to enter into universities.

“We consider the whole child, not the academic results only to help give them a better foundation for the future,” Morais said.
