St Stithians unveils new sports pavilion

LYME PARK – Parents, teachers, members of council and alumni of St Stithians College recently came together for the launch and unveiling of the college's newly-built boys’ sports pavilion.

Present at the launch was Dr Tim Nuttall, rector at St Stithians, who hailed the completion of the sports facility as a celebration. “We wanted to build a legacy for our school with this pavilion and a sense of community for our members,” Nuttall said.

He further explained that the pavilion consists of changing rooms, offices for sports staff and an entertainment room for visitors.

Nuttall also expressed gratitude to those who contributed to bringing the project to life, and the families and individuals who donated generously towards the project.

The launch also saw former pupils from the school present, including former South African cricket player, David Terbrugge, who shared fond memories with the crowd of his sporting days at the school. “I can say, looking back, that there’s no better place as a young cricket player to grow than at St Stithians,” he said.

The launch also saw the announcement of the building of a girls’ sports pavilion, which is expected to begin after the upcoming Saints Easter Festival.

Concluding the unveiling was Ian Rickelton, director of sports for the boys’ college, who lauded the pavilion as a central place of meeting during sports events.

“It really is exciting to be a part of the process and to build on what the school already has to offer,” he said.
