WARNING: Theft out of vehicles on the rise in Sandton

SANDTON – Sandton Police Station recently issued a warning after many theft out of motor vehicles cases were reported at the station.

 

Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for Sandton Police Station, said it has come to their attention that criminals are specifically targeting vehicles parked at shopping malls.

“They use jamming devices to gain access to your vehicles,” he warned.

“It is very important that you make sure that the doors and windows of your car are locked. After locking, check if the doors and boot are secured.”

He said areas which have been affected thus far include Benmore, Sandton CBD, Woodmead and Bryanston.
