Nothing but love for Ark Animal Shelter pupies

JOBURG - Smooches and hugs were the order of the day for Ark Animal Shelter puppies as community members came in their numbers to the centre’s Kissing Booth fundraising event on Valentine’s Day.

The fundraising weekend, which took place on 13 and 14 February, was to raise money and food for the animals at the shelter.

“This is absolutely amazing, [the centre staff] are overjoyed and cannot keep up with the amount of people who came over to support this fundraising event. I love how busy it is and we are very grateful to the community, because, without them, the centre would not be here,” Stacey Lobley, volunteer and shopkeeper at the centre said.

The centre is a non-profit organisation that specialises in puppies, pregnant mothers and small-breed dogs. Their aim is to change the attitude of people towards animals through education and awareness and to promote animal welfare and animal rights.

“We have a rescued Yorkshire dog called Blue that I have adopted who is in need of funds for his bad teeth and heart condition due to bad treatment from his previous owner. I really plead with the community to help get Blue’s teeth fixed so that he can be a healthy dog again,” Lobley said.

“Community members who would like to help Blue can use the Ark’s banking details on our website.”

The two day fundraiser was thanks to the Get Out There team run by Louise Addis.
