Hyde Park High host amazing gala

HYDE PARK - Hyde Park High School celebrated the new school year with team spirit at their annual inter-house gala.

 

School principal Manolis Vogiatzis said, “This is always an event where everyone is involved, either as a cheerleader, swimmer or part of the supporting house.”

The gala was won by Rutland house which also received the Spirit Trophy with an overall score of 532 points. Grosvenor house placed second with 489 points, third was Leicester with 451 and Marlborough came in fourth on 432.

Rutland won five of the six trophies on offer at the gala. The girls’ junior victrix ludorum went to Paige Carter with the senior girls’ victrix ludorum going to Robyn Fourie.

The boys’ junior victor ludorum was won by Cole Hutchinson and the senior victor ludorum went to Eric Cyrus.

Vogiatzis remarked on the exceptional swimmers among the new Grade 8 pupils and congratulated Rutland on an almost clean sweep of the trophy table.
