RIVERCLUB – After a driveway armed robbery incident took place outside a woman’s home, she has come forward.

The woman, who does not wish to be named, said she had been out shopping. “I approached my home and stopped in the driveway,” she explained.

“Just as I just opened the door to go get the gate remote from the boot, two armed men pulled me out of the car.”

She said the two men took her jewellery, her handbag, cellphone, car keys and groceries. “They told me to get back into the car and [they] drove off [in their own car],” she said.

The woman added that there were actually three suspects, the third one was driving.

She said the two armed men were dressed in black and wore balaclavas. The car they drove off in was a light blue Honda Jazz with a scratch on the side.

“I just want to warn the rest of the community members to watch out and be careful when they drive into their homes,” she said.

“There was a similar incident in Hurlingham where another woman was a victim.”

Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for Sandton police, confirmed that an armed robbery case had been opened. “The woman was driving a grey Mercedes Benz,” he added.

He said no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
