Raw sewage flows down the street in Buccleuch

BUCCLEUCH – Raw sewage continues to cause a big stink as it flows down Muller Street in Buccleuch.

This according to resident and chairman of the Sandton Community Police Forum Sector 4 sub-forum, Andrew McMurray.

“This has been an ongoing problem for months,” McMurray said.

“Joburg Water has repaired this on numerous occasions, but the sewage leak keeps recurring. Pupils of Buccleuch Primary School have to walk past it during the week. It is an absolute health hazard.”

McMurray said he did not believe that Joburg Water cared about the community’s concerns regarding the sewage leak. “Or maybe they just do not have the trained personnel to fix the problem,” he added. “The levels of incompetence are frightening.”

He said there was also a hole in the area that kept filling up with water due to poor workmanship.

“Health hazards, leaking water and poor workmanship, these issues have all been raised,” said McMurray.

No comment was received from Joburg Water by the time of publication.
