Women take on technology at IT summit

JOBURG - The inaugural Women in Information Technology Summit Africa 2015 will take place in Sandton on 17 September.

This summit is a brand-driven vehicle focused on how best to integrate science and technology to transform society, creating a difference that resonates strongly with women in South Africa and across the African continent.

In partnership with Silicon Cape, Warpsody, Essays of Africa Magazine, ITWeb, Karabina, Cape Innovation and Technology Initiative, The Umlambo Foundation and Clarins, the summit aims to explore the opportunities emanating from the industry that will enable women to grow in a male dominated arena.

The summit will provide a network of experienced and successful women from corporate and entrepreneurial information technology platforms, and will host more than 100 leading women within their respective roles from the corporate and public sector.

The summit will also provide women across Africa with crucial information and knowledge, on the opportunities and challenges of the evolving digital ecosystem while assessing new developments. It will assist them in creating long-lasting business relationships through new business contacts. A series of innovatory panel discussions will ensure that everyone is engaged.

The summit will feature keynotes under the theme, Connecting Women in Africa – Innovative Female Leaders, Catapulting Africa’s Technological and Economic Growth.

Some of the speakers will include Aki Anastasiou, host of TechBusters on CNBC Africa; Zandile Mbhele, the executive partner for IBM Global Business Services; Wabo Majavu, the head of product management at Sentech, and Toby Shapshack, the editor of Stuff Magazine and Technobyte.
