In the pink for the ladies
SANDTON – Cell C, Samsung and Edith Unlimited have joined forces to raise awareness of breast cancer survivors in an initiative, 50 Shades of Pink.
The collaboration will see a Cell C team and a Samsung team consisting of female players from South Africa and Zimbabwe respectively, play against each other in the Cell C Playing for Pink Ladies Invitational Polo which will take place in October.
Edith Venter, founder of Edith Unlimited and event organiser said, “While the day promises to be a spectacular event, our true aim is to support breast cancer survivors through Reach for Recovery’s Ditto Project, which will be the beneficiary of a percentage of the funds raised.”
Reach for Recovery is an organisation that gives much-needed support to women who have been diagnosed with cancer or those dealing with breast cancer treatment. The organisation’s Ditto Project was launched as a way to assist with the purchasing of prostheses for women from low-income groups who have had mastectomies.
Cell C Foundation’s managing executive, Suzette van der Merwe said,”We are proud to be able to make a contribution to a very worthy organisation through our involvement with the Cell C Playing for Pink Polo event. And as a bonus we are pleased to highlight the exceptional talents of these women from both Cell C and Samsung teams.”
The invitational polo match will take place on 4 October at the Inanda Club in Sandton. Residents are invited to the fun-filled day to help raise funds for this cause.
