UPDATE: AU delegate robbed, police launch manhunt

SANDTON - It was reported that police have launched a manhunt for suspects who robbed a Nigerian AU delegate on the evening of 10 June.

A team of detectives are reportedly investigating the robbery which took place on Marlboro Drive.

The delegate was apparently traveling to Sandton from OR Tambo when he was stopped by suspects who pretended to be Nigerian police officers.

A Nigerian delegate who is believed to have been attending the AU summit in Sandton was reportedly robbed by fake policeman on Marlboro Drive on 10 June.

According to EWN, the delegate was robbed by men who posed as Nigerian police officers.

The delegate was on his way to Sandton from OR Tambo airport when he was robbed by the suspects.

He was allegedly robbed of $500 (R6175) as well as a further R700.

The Hawks have reportedly taken over the investigation.
