A club of distinguished gentlemen

Probus is an organisation originally started by Rotary for retired and semi-retired professional and businessmen. Rodney Frances, president of the Probus Council of South Africa, said Probus was a club for like-minded people to get together for fellowship.

The club held its annual general meeting on 12 March where past president, Tony Diarmid, presided over the meeting while current president, Mike Rigby was abroad. New member David Allen was inducted at the meeting and the chain of office was handed over to the new president, Bernard Lawrenson.

The Probus Club of the North meets on the second Thursday of every month at the Rivonia Sports Club.

Retired businessmen from Sandton, Randburg and Fourways are encouraged to join the club.
